My Urban Landscape Compositions examine the definition and nature of the urban existence. While there is chaos, both visually and acoustically, I find myself drawn to it's imprecise sense of harmony and balance. There is an inherent impression or order and randomness in a city plan. Each part is supported by it's intended use and for its relationship to one another. I create an asymmetrical balance of vertical and horizontal lines not by calculation but by intuition. The rough surface of the interlocking black lines, combine with the smooth blocks of color, bringing both a sensation of restlessness and calm to the organization of the compositional space. Urban harmony may appear to be a paradox but the challenge lies not in what the observer sees but how it is viewed.
